it takes two
hey hey it’s Tuesday! The weather is perfect, the birds are chirpin and I’m up before 7:30AM so it’s a beautiful day already in my book. I was so excited to wake up at first light to shoot these two nightstands that Jeff and I have been tag-teaming.
They come from my client, Kelly, who hails from sunny Point Pleasant. She has the perfect spot just a short walk from the beach. Super jealous!
Here’s a look at the two nightstands before Jeff and I got to work on them:
Kelly’s boyfriend inherited these when he first bought their home and she was ready for an upgrade. They are SO well made, heavy as all get-out and very spacious. She wasn’t sure what we could do to improve them but as soon as I saw the little nook between the bottom drawer and the top shelf, I knew these would make awesome cubbies.
So I enlisted Jeff’s help to remove the center support and build out the sides with new wood. He used very technical terminology to break this down for me, none of which I have retained, but nevertheless he did a great job and I’m happy with the finished product.
After a thorough sanding, I covered these babies in Annie Sloan’s Paris Grey chalk paint and let cure. I followed up with General Finishes Van Dyke Brown stain and added some new bin pull hardware in oil rubbed bronze. I loved how they turned out!
Have a great day, everybody!
